Pipefish - Freshwater Long Snout (Doryichthys martensii)

The fresh water long snout pipefish is a long and slender shaped species belonging to the syngnathidae family. They are quite peaceful and slow behaved species with finicky eating habits. These eating habits mean that these fish need lots of time and dedication to thrive in your home aquarium. With a 20cm body and a 10 year life span, these fish are best kept in pairs. They are very rarely compatible with fast, aggressive species. some of the best tank mates for your pipefish include, Danios, some but not all tetra species and Apistogramma.
